Antonio Conte Sends warning to Tottenham that Wembley is ‘great for opponent’ after Chelsea victory
Two goals from Marcos Alonso either side of the break saw the Premier League champions come away from the London derby with three points off the back of an underwhelming 3-2 defeat to Burnley last weekend.
Conte suggested his team were buoyed by the 73,587 crowd at Wembley on Sunday afternoon and warned that the atmosphere may hand away sides an advantage over the course of Spurs’ 2017/18 campaign.
‘To see this atmosphere was great. In this stadium, Wembley, it’s a fantastic stadium, to see this atmosphere is amazing for the opponent,’ the Italian stated following the victory.
‘Honestly, it was amazing and the atmosphere was so strong for us, with our fans trying to push the same as 70,000 Tottenham supporters.
‘But honestly I think that to see this atmosphere is also great for the opponent.’
The Blues will be hoping to use the momentum of the win when they host Everton at Stamford Bridge next weekend.
